Sneaker Drive

Do you have old sneaker? They are worth more than you think.
PLEASE bring your old sneakers to Hope Fellowship! Your used tennis shoes will be reused as affordable footwear for people in need around the world, plus it saves the landfills from being polluted with those rubber soles that do not decompose. AND in addition, your donated sneakers will help raise funds to fight hunger.
Rum River Elementary is taking the GreenSneakers EcoChallenge for Education in recognition of Earth Day this year. The goal is to gather 3,000 pairs of used sneakers to raise funds for a school program to fight world hunder. GreenSneakers will pay 50 cents per pound and then shoes are distributed as affordable footwear in some of the neediest countries. Shoes are also given to agencies handling disaster and humanitarian relief efforts.
Money raised will fund the event, Rum River Against Hunger, to be held Friday, March 22, 2013. The organization, Impact Lives, will come to Rum River and set up stations so students can pack meals that will feed hungry children around the world. One pair of shoes is roughly 2 pounds. This is the fifth year Rum River has participated in this event and the students have truly become aware of world hunger through this program.
So, clean out your closets! Bring your old tennis shoes to Hope and place them in the designated container in the lobby from February 1st—28th. Yes, please tie the shoe strings together. If you have questions, contact Renee Blue at donblue99@hotmail.com.

Have you been wanting to find a way to serve your church, but think “I’m not good
with a hammer, I can’t help build anything.” Or, “I don’t have the patience to help in
the nursery or teach Sunday school. I can barely stand my own kids!” or even, “I’m
not amazing with words, there’s no way I could preach.” Well if you find yourself
thinking these things as you throw away garbage, push in a chair at your breakfast
nook, and pour yourself that 5th cup of coffee before you are out of your footy
jammies, then Hope can use you, and more importantly, God can use you!

As an opener, you can serve Hope by making sure chairs are straight in the
sanctuary, picking up any extra trash lying around, start the coffee, and make sure
that Friendship Pads and pens are in each row and that any requests that are on
these have been taken off and put on Josh’s desk. But what if you finish early?
Praying is allowed with down time.
Either of these opportunities could be a great way to serve your church individually
or with your entire family. Serving the church in simply ways with your family
could be a great way to set an example for your kids about servant hood.

As a closer, you would check each row to make sure there isn’t any extra trash lying
around or any lost and found items and straighten the chairs. You would also check
to make sure the Friendship Pads that have been written on have those pages torn
off the pad and put in Josh’s office. You would also be able to empty the coffee and
straighten up anything else you can find. Another perk is you get to take a cut of the
offering.

The Resolution for Women

Monday Night Families (aka MNF). In a joint effort with Ramsey Area Churches we will be serving families in need with a hot meal the 1st and 3rd Mondays. These dinners will be held at:

Greeting Team – Wanted

Greeting Team – When you first started coming to Hope Fellowship, didn’t you just love being greeted by a friendly person at the door? That person always had a smile and a handshake; sometimes even a hug! You could ask them questions, like where to hang your coat or what to do with food donations or when the kids were dismissed from church. We are in need of more friendly persons to be greeters on Sunday morning. Terry Christensen is the guy who makes the greeter schedule. If you would like to be on it – say once a month – let him know. Cleaning Team – Wanted

The current cleaning team needs help! They play a huge role in keeping our facility clean and orderly on a weekly basis, all as volunteers! If you have 2 hours a month and are willing to sign up for a cleaning shift 1x/month (or more if you like!), please contact Tanya Walters or Tyler Tong.
